Reflect:

  1. Can you think of a situation in which a friend remained by your side through difficulty?
  2. Have you been that type of friend to someone else?

Receive:

“David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in theLord his God” (1 Samuel 30:6, NIV).

“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses” (1 Timothy 6:12, NIV).

Respond:

Pray that the Holy Spirit empowers you to be faithful in your situation. Be willing to love those around you even when their situation or condition is difficult to love. And remember, that includes you. Accept yourself, whatever your weakness.
