What the world needs now?
Yes, love.
Not love the emotion, the feeling, the thrill, the too-quick-to-escape thing often called love.
But the love of dedication, commitment, care.
And something else. The world needs this now. We all need this now.
Listeners.
The world needs listeners.
We need listeners.
People we can talk to who will actually listen. Not focused on what they’ll say next. Not obsessed with forced outcome.
Just listening.
Attentive. Alert.
There.
Today, let us hear.
Today, let us not rush the conversation.
Today, let us have ears to hear and hearts to love.
This is all too true. It is very important to listen and then love. Not love then listen. There is a difference. Good reminder to be that someone they can talk to and you’ll love them right back no matter the words.
I could not agree more. Something we learn in communication classes is the difference between listening and hearing. We need people that listen and really take in what others are saying. Not just hear the words being said and move on.
Love and listening are two sides of the same coin. If you can not listen to someone and their struggles, you can not truly love them. If you can not hear the sounds of nature, then can you truly say you love it in its entirety. It is always important to listen just as much as we love.
Our world needs more love. The idea of true love and passion is so far from my generation because of technology. We need more listeners. We need people who will listen to other people’s view points instead of being stuck in their ways.
I really like this blog. One thing I’m really looking forward to in the future is being a father. When you talked about dedication, commitment and care, my first thought was how true that really is. A lot of the times, with people in single-parent homes they are missing a father. Not to say mothers aren’t amazing, but without a father you don’t have a true leader in your household. I look forward to being a committed, dedicated, and caring father who is always there for my child to show them they are loved.
This is such a reminder of the answer to a lot of the anger and hurt going on in the world today. A lot of the problem of today is that people have lost genuine love for each other. The world has lost the fact that love and kindness are what keep us together. The same love that God has shown to us is the love that we should show others.
This is so true. We are a society who loves to speak but very few of us really know how to listen. I think so much hurt, pain, and miscommunication would be avoided if a person learns to truly listen. God desires to listen. So let’s be more like Him.
I agree that the world needs love. The world needs listeners who genuinely listen to others without being obsessed with the outcome or what they will say next. We need to be the people that are careful and alert while having ears to hear and hearts to love.
I think it is important to know that to love, we need to first be able to take away our own interests and be able to open up ourselves to listening to what others are saying, going though, or even just what their story or perspective and history is. But why do we not do this naturally? Could it be because we are so self absorbed that we cannot let ourselves disengage with our own interests enough to allow others to be the “main character” so to speak. Making sure we know how to listen and love is one of the most important aspects and the true starting point of living out the commandment Jesus gives us in John 13:34.
