Some things aren’t very popular these days.

Some things have lost their color, their thrill, their demand.

But as I sit in an old sanctuary and pray for our church service tomorrow morning, I sense a new appetite for the ancient, the outdated, the bland.

What do we need?

Maybe bowing by an altar.

Maybe asking a friend to pray.

Maybe stating a simple, authentic prayer.

Maybe telling an honest story.

Dear Jesus, guide us to that place. Help us stay a while. In this season of hurry and worry, escape and avoid, new trends and new noises, guide us to that place and help us stay a while.
