Not everything in life deserves a wow. Not every book we read deserves a wow. But in That Deserves a Wow: Untold Stories of Legends and Champions, Their Wins and Heartbreaks, Emmy-winning broadcaster Chris Myers reflects on his illustrious career in sports. He fills the pages with stories through his life experiences in the world of sports. And his stories bring the wows.
Read the book and you’ll feel like you’re watching Chris Myers in person as he takes you back into his younger years. How he started a career in broadcasting. How he fell in love with sports. His conversations with Mike Tyson, Muhammed Ali, Tom Brady, John Wooden, Bill Belichick, Charles Barkley, Barry Bonds, Serena Williams, Jack Nicklaus, Pete Sampras, and Bill Murray. Bill Murray? Yes, his friend Bill Murray.
Myers doesn’t just interview. He builds relationships.
He guides you through his experiences when the earthquake struck the 1989 World Series, at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bombing, and in his live interview with the notorious OJ Simpson.
I have quoted many of his lines on social media. The book is a must read for anyone interested in sports, broadcasting, and stories behind the stories.
My only negative? Myers was on the sidelines during the Patriotsā stunning comeback at Super Bowl LI. And he wrote about it. I read it, wishing he had left that story out. As a fan of the Atlanta Falcons, that is a sad Super Bowl I wish I could forget.
Thank you, Chris Myers, for writing the untold stories. Thanks for the wins and the heartbreaks. Your book deserves a wow.
