a heavy fear.
a haunting lure.
those initial thoughts.
those original feelings.
yes, they are there.
yes, they are loud.
no, they should not control us.
be aware of them.
process the “what”
and the “why.”
but beware of them.
refuse to let them rule
your decisions.
talk to the right person.
write your thoughts.
seek help.
resist allowing
overprotective thoughts
and feelings
to control your mood
and your day
and your life.
let’s hope for healing
to come
today.
This poem is such a simple reminder that thoughts are apart of everyday. Allow yourself to process and seek guidance. Be aware but not controlled. Give yourself grace. Such a sweet reminder.
What this blog means to me is that help is so important for dealing with our thoughts and emotions. The most meaningful line to me was to “be aware of [the thoughts and feelings], but to ‘beware’ of them,” so they don’t control us. I feel there was a lot of power behind those words. In my life I need to learn to trust more people so I don’t let my own thoughts and feelings control me.
This is a beautiful poem. Reading this poem I fealt that fear can control us, especially when the voices get loud enough. When we resist the fear in our minds we become more resilient in controlling our day to day lives. We all must understand these fears but not let it sink us. We need to be stronger and rise above with the hope we have in our hearts.
This poem reminds me of when we take big steps in our lives. Whether it is like the poem indicates, seeking help, or just new parts of our lives, or things such as moving. The idea and worry that can come with the anticipation we often feel that so easily fades into anxiety or concerns. Our feelings and thoughts are often “loud” and sometimes it feels like they are louder than all of our other thoughts.
I really like how this poem showed the hurt and struggle that the author is walking through. How raw and real it is, but then recalling that we are not made to walk through this alone and that we can seek others and use different tools to put away those thoughts and feelings and pull out the truth in those situations.
I really like this poem! I feel like it relates a lot to me because I tend to let negative thoughts and overthinking control my feelings, which in turn affect not only myself but my relationships as well. Whenever I feel my thoughts and feelings controlling me, I need to turn to God and trust that He will bring me peace.
I enjoyed this poem because it helps me reflect on the feelings that I am feeling as of right now. The way that I interpret this is that I can sometimes let thoughts that I can control ruin or dictate how my day is. Instead of seeking help and trying to fix it, I just bottle it up and hope that it goes away. It usually doesn’t go away because I usually get to a breaking point that causes me to either lash out at someone or about something. Lately, I have been talking to my friend about how I feel and it has helped me understand more who I am. This has been helping me get overprotective thoughts.
This poem makes a few simple points. The main one that I felt is trying to be made is that it is okay to seek help. Hard thoughts and times will come, but we are by no means meant to endure those times alone. We are, however, offered help from Jesus our savior as well as those placed on earth to listen to us through counseling and even give a different perspective on our situation.
I really enjoy this poem. What I like about this poem is that it shows that there is hope even after the darkest of times. This poem really resonated with me as someone who has struggled with mental illness and thought there would never be an end to the darkness. It tells you to seek out help and not let your thoughts control you which are things that can really help someone who is going through a hard time with mental illness as I did.
This poem really spoke to me because there is a lot of drama surrounding my life at the moment and it is negatively affecting the people around me and I have seen it overtake them in a way that rules their daily lives. I try to be the person that does not allow the small negative things that may be happening in my life to control how I go about my day, but instead I choose to still laugh and have fun despite everything.
I enjoy this poem. The simplicity it makes life and allows me to breathe while reading and understand the motion behind my thoughts. I love the simple life and I see the majority of myself being moved by the simple things in life. I choose to face problems right on and I see how this simple life drill in a poem blog would help.
