April is #NationalPoetryMonth. Here is one is the poems from my new book, “embracing now.”

there’s a light in the crack of the curtain, resembling an eye glancing

through the dark,

reminding me of a tiny moon

shaped as a circle.

not sure of the glare

but i stare,

knowing it is there

for my final view of the night,

my final view of the night.

there’s a noise in the air from the bypass, resembling percussion louder

than preferred,

reminding me the drivers travel

deep into the dark.

not sure of the source,

but i hear

knowing it is there

for my final sounds of the night,

my final sounds of the night.

there’s a thought in the measure of my mind,

resembling a song continuing

its rhythm,

reminding me of my dialogue

with the Divine.

not sure of how answers specifically arrive,

but believing He is listening

to my final prayers of the night,

my final prayers of the night.
