From Chris Maxwell’s book Unwrapping His Presence: What We Really Need for Christmas

One night, after ball games and Children’s Christmas Musical rehearsal, we bought a tree. A green tree that stood waiting. We purchased, cut, placed, and watered. We begin clothing and coloring, while keeping the water stand full.
Many nights, after days of giving and receiving, I feel like a tree. Standing. Waiting. I relax, though, remembering I’ve been purchased, cut, placed, and watered. My Joyful Owner clothes and colors me, while keeping the water stand full.
Many people feel like trees waiting to be wanted. During this December, I pray they recall a real meaning behind the meals and melodies. I pray they find clothes and colors for inner selves gladly given by their True Owner. If so, they shall never run dry.
The Tree Maker stands waiting.
